Release Time: For Immediate Release On behalf of President Obama, John Brennan called United Arab Emirates Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayid this afternoon to express strong appreciation for the outstanding work of UAE authorities in disrupting a terrorist plot that involved concealed improvised explosive devices, including one found in Dubai. Brennan conveyed the President’s sincere appreciation to the UAE for the excellent cooperation between our countries on counterterrorism and other security matters. He expressed to the Crown Prince the Administration’s gratitude for the skillful and timely action by UAE security officials to disrupt the attempted attack and for the highly professional nature of the investigation being conducted by Emirati security services. Brennan noted that this weekend’s events reflect the strong and enduring security relationship between the United States and the UAE, as well as our shared commitment to keeping the American and Emirati people safe from terrorist attack.

Release Time: For Immediate Release The President spoke to Saudi King Abdullah this morning to discuss the terrorist plot that was disrupted yesterday at East Midlands Airport and in Dubai. The President expressed his strong appreciation for the critical role played by Saudi counterterrorism officials in averting this attempted attack and for the deep and enduring relationship between the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The President also discussed with the King the importance of giving full support to Lebanese Prime Minister Hariri and the internationally mandated Special Tribunal of Lebanon.
